Bertrand: You have a very rich experience. Could you tell us more about it? Since you studied in France, you went to the United States… Well, could you tell us a little more and then about your professional career?

Frédérique: Oh yes, I’m lucky, yes, to have moved around a lot and to have worked on many interesting subjects. After starting my studies in France, I went to the United States in the 90s. So it was during the Clinton years, which were absolutely euphoric and exciting. There was a strong feeling of freedom there.

So I studied there, got a Master’s in Physical Chemistry, did fundamental research, and taught at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I also… Sorry, I often forget, I got an MBA. So, that was for the more business part.

And then I came back to France, to Paris. And there, I joined a start-up in the financial sector where I worked on models for various financial instruments and provided consulting to asset management companies.

Then, I joined the Man Co, the asset management company of the AXA group. There, I also dealt with various aspects of the business: I worked on tenders, I worked on analyzing all performance analysis topics and investment risk management. So, both very technical roles and somewhat more marketing-oriented, communication-oriented roles.

Bertrand: So you did shift towards finance then. From physical chemistry to finance.

Frédérique: Yes, which was fascinating. And I did that and left AXA IM to start my own business.I went back to school, to ESCP, and did a wealth management training program internationally.

So I wanted to be an investment advisor for… My thing was to specialize for women with investments in everything that could be an asset, artistic. And I settled in Luxembourg.

A bit by chance, also by chance encounters. I was very, very well received. It’s a bit like the Wild West, I find, of Europe. Setting up a business is easy there. And I did fundraising.

I helped some people also settle in Luxembourg, set up their financial holding companies there.

And I met Eric Nolen who was then in charge of the development of the advisory, regulatory compliance department at Mazars. We got to know each other. And after two years, at the end of 2019, which should be a memorable date because it was a few months before, two months before COVID!

So, we launched together and set up the Now Partners group which is part of the Family Consulting Group.

Bertrand: Now Partners, which is a great success today! Because you will see in another video, but, 30 consultants!

Frédérique: I am very proud, really very proud.It has been, and still is, because Eric and I share many values about the idea of the company we wanted to create, the new company, the liberated company, having a differentiating approach to our clients.

And then we have this energy that drives us to always look for new projects, new opportunities.

We call it serial entrepreneurs, I believe. I think we fundamentally have that in our DNA.

So, a present success and I hope, precisely, with The Family Consulting Group, to be able to combine our DNA to build something bigger, more global, stronger especially. And with more impact, really more impact. It’s essential.

We’re transitioning today. We need, and I think we’re a generation today that connects with these new generations in a world that fundamentally needs people like us I think. It’s not pretentious, it’s a reality, that’s it.

Bertrand: Thank you Frédérique

Frédérique: It’s me who thanks you, Bertrand

Bertrand: Tu as une expérience qui est très très riche.  Est-ce que tu pourrais nous en parler ?  Puisque tu as étudié en France, tu es parti aux États-Unis …  Enfin voilà, est-ce que tu peux nous en dire un peu plus et puis ensuite ton parcours professionnel. 

Frédérique: Ah oui j’ai de la chance, oui, de beaucoup bouger et de toucher à pas mal de sujets intéressants et donc après avoir commencé mes études en France je suis parti aux États-Unis avant dans les années 90. Donc les années Clinton qui était absolument euphoriques et passionnantes. Il y avait voilà un sentiment de liberté là-bas assez poussé. 

Donc j’y ai fait mes études, un DEA en chimie physique, j’ai fait de la recherche fondamentale et enseigner à la University of Michigan, à Ann Arbor dans le Michigan. 

Je suis rentrée … j’ai aussi … Pardon, j’oublie souvent, j’ai fait un MBA.  Donc, voilà, ça c’était pour la partie plus business en fait. 

Et puis après je suis rentrée en France, sur Paris.  Et là, j’ai rejoint une start-up dans le milieu financier où j’ai travaillé sur les modèles de différents instruments et ai fait du conseil auprès des sociétés de gestion. 

Ensuite, j’ai intégré la Man Co, la société de gestion du groupe AXA. Et là, j’ai touché également plusieurs aspects du métier : je travaillais aux appels d’offres, j’ai travaillé à l’analyse de tous les sujets d’analyse de performance et la gestion du risque d’investissement. Donc aussi bien des métiers très techniques que des métiers un peu plus marketing, plus axés communication. 

Bertrand: Donc tu as quand même basculé vers la finance donc.  De la physique-chimie vers la finance. 

Frédérique: Oui, ce qui était passionnant. Et, j’ai fait ça donc et j’ai quitté AXA IM pour me lancer à mon compte. 

Je suis retourné à l’école, à l’ESCP, j’ai fait une formation de gestion de fortune à l’international. 

Donc je voulais être conseiller en investissement pour …. Mon truc, c’était me spécialiser pour les femmes avec aussi des investissements dans tout ce qui était ou pouvait être actif, artistique. Et je me suis installée au Luxembourg. 

Un peu par hasard, aussi le hasard des rencontres. J’ai été vraiment très très bien accueillie. C’est un peu le Far West, je trouve, de l’Europe. L’entreprise y est facile. Et j’ai fait de la levée de fond. 

J’ai accompagné certaines personnes à s’installer au Luxembourg également, à monter leur holding financière là-bas. 

Et j’ai rencontré Eric Nolen qui était à l’époque responsable du du développement du pôle conseil, conformité réglementaire chez Mazars. On a appris à se connaître. Et au bout de deux ans, fin 2019, qui devrait être une date quand même assez mémorable puisque c’était quelques mois avant, deux mois avant le covid ! 

Voilà, nous nous sommes lancés à deux et avons monté le groupe Now Partners qui donc fait partie du groupe de Family Consulting Group. 

Bertrand: Now Partners qui est aujourd’hui un superbe succès ! Puisque vous le verrez dans une autre vidéo, mais, 30 consultants ! 

Frédérique: J’en suis très fière, vraiment très très fière. 

Ca a été, et c’est toujours, parce qu’en fait, Eric et moi, on partage un grand nombre de valeurs sur l’idée de l’entreprise qu’on voulez créer, l’entreprise nouvelle, l’entreprise libérée, avoir une approche différenciante vis-à-vis de nos clients. 

Et puis on a cette énergie qui nous pousse à toujours aller chercher de nouveaux projets, de nouvelles opportunités. 

On appelle ça des entrepreneurs en série, des serial entrepreneurs, je crois. Je crois qu’on a ça fondamentalement dans notre ADN. 

Voilà donc, un succès présent et j’espère, justement, avec The Family Consulting Group, pouvoir mettre en commun nos ADN pour construire quelque chose de plus grand, plus global, plus fort surtout. Et avec plus d’impact, vraiment plus d’impact. C’est essentiel. 

On a bascule aujourd’hui. On a besoin et je pense qu’on est une génération aujourd’hui qui faisons le lien avec ces nouvelles générations avec un monde qui a fondamentalement besoin de gens comme nous je pense. C’est pas prétentieux, c’est une réalité voilà.
